Our Inner Selves is a 3D exhibition created by the second year art students of Lapland University of Applied Sciences; the exhibition reveals what our inner characters might look like. How do we see ourselves and do we keep our real selves hidden from others? You are the only one who knows what you truly feel but is it still important to bring out these hidden feelings and thoughts–just in case someone else might feel the same way?
We are shaped by our dreams, thoughts, fears, and feelings; these are things that cannot be perceived straight away yet are important parts of ourselves. These things help ourselves at finding who we truly are as well as what our parts in the world are. Sometimes we need to choose which parts of ourselves we show to others, but then our real selves might be left in the dark.
These and many other similar thoughts are what the art students have been wondering about whilst creating their exhibition sculptures. They want to bring out their own true selves to be seen and hope the viewer gets some food for thought as well. What is your inner self like? And why is it hidden?
